Well, it’s not quite as scandalous as it sounds, but it sure was a treat. Baked & Wired is a local bakery/cupcakery here in Washington, DC located off the beaten path that is well known by locals as THE cupcake spot in Georgetown. Let the tourists wait in the absurd line up the block, thank you very much.
I had the opportunity to meet up with Amy McKeever from Eater DC to kick off my Friday morning and chat all about the wonderful things happening in the DC culinary scene. A treat for both of us workaholics to get away from the computer and take in a little fresh air and enjoy a lovely little, savory spicy sausage and cilantro scone.
It had never dawned on me to veer from the outrageously delicious sweets there, and I had honestly never noticed the quiches and other savory delicacies before. I suppose my one track mind had always zeroed right in on the cupcakes on previous trips. I have to say, this little biscuit was to die for. I actually had my sights set on the goat cheese and chive biscuit that was on display in the same container on the counter, because I am admittedly not a cilantro fan in the least, but as Mom always said…try it…maybe you’ll like it. And that I did! Accompanied by a refreshing glass of peach black tea, great company, and a cool spring breeze on the outside patio, this was just what I needed to kick off the weekend right.
And, I will leave you with this. Though the photo is a little blurry, enough said. The “Honey Badger Don’t Give a Sheet” Brownie . Only don’t let the name fool you folks…it’s not made from snakes…that’s nasty. This recipe is made simply from pure deliciousness.
