I was recently informed that DC will shortly have a new local haunt among its good graces in the form of a reformed, historic firehouse turned gastropub. The website has yet to be revealed fully hinting only to the physical address, as the new hot spot has yet to be officially unveiled for the first time this Friday for dinner.
The location is a storied one, as DC’s first ever working fire station (how cool!) decked with hand carved wood, exposed brick, and the sort of Americana artwork you would expect from such a location, complete with soaring eagles and and furling flags.
And bonus hint: this location is planning a spring opening of its very own brick laden outdoor patio located in the shadow of the restaurant’s original firehouse shield. What’s not to love about another great patio location?
And, while the decor in this space sounds impressive, the menu sounds pretty fantastic as well, if I do say so myself. I personally can’t wait to give several of these comfort foods a whirl. Namely, of the menu items, I am already favoring the ‘Chicken Pot Waffle’ consisting of a cheddar thyme waffle, poached chicken, vegetables and roasted chicken gravy…uh…YUM!
In the meantime, til this new haunt opens, here is a little temptation to whet your appetite and get you pumped up for opening day at the close of this dreary work week. Please post a comment if you happen to visit and give me the scoop on the best and brightest menu items!
