So, I was visiting my friendly little neighborhood deli nearby work today to grab a quick salad for my lunch break. Yes, the Elizabeth Deli. I have worked with the same company for years now, and located right about next door is this little dining nook that has gained a cult-like following of sorts in my office. It had been a while since my last visit, so I decided to saunter over the 100 paces to grab some eats. The lovely ladies behind the counter always put their heart into their menu, making all of their food to order and it really does taste hand-made. What is most interesting about this spot, tucked away beneath the hustle and bustle of that burgeoning metropolis known as Chevy Chase (pause for sarcastic face), is that it is a surprisingly multicultural little spot. I had a little time to wander around the small, but packed, aisles, filled with great little staples for every occasion, and I stumbled across these beauties…

So, not much of a story yet, but I stood and contemplated as I had never seen this brand, and it looked pretty authentic. Feeling adventurous, I decided to pick some up and give them a shot, seeing as football season is upon us and a big batch of chili will be in order soon to prep and freeze for the season (cause it is more flavorful after a good freeze).

So I brought this container on up to the counter and Lady Elizabeth at the register jumped back and motioned to me as if her face was on fire and just kept mumbling “little bit…little bit…” This just intrigued me more! She made a suggestion on how much (ahem, little) to use when I explained my planned endeavor for said chipotles.  So, I will just have to test this out on the pre-season batches, and hope that the friends I am serving it to are not reading this post. Time to see what those friends of mine are made of….stay tuned…. (insert evil laugh)…
